Without wanting to pre-empt the outcome of this process, we can already identify a number of possible areas for administrative simplification. Joint doctorates cause administrative burden: we will review the procedure, provide additional support and make cuts where necessary. We will explore alternative systems for smart, pooled support (at a central level or between departments and faculties) for European projects. For Internal Funds we experiment with shorter project texts and applications without CVs, or with very concise CVs. The application and evaluation processes at ethics committees must also be simplified, both for applicants and for support staff. No more multiple iterations between ethics committees, which cause inconvenience for both applicants and support staff. With the addition of one extra FTE and as much pre-filled standard information as possible (e.g. for MRI), we can ensure that the entire PRET system is simplified.

Together, we make KU Leuven

Thank you very much for the vote of confidence you have placed in me during what has already been an intense campaign. Now we are steaming ahead to the final round of voting! Because if you really want to bring a breath of fresh air to the university, you need to know exactly what is going on, what the needs are and how we can realistically address them. In short, you need to know KU Leuven inside out so that we can move forward together and leave no one behind. That’s why I am keen to continue the dialogue with you, because yes, together, we make KU Leuven.
